Marcia Guimaraes is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Carolina. Marcia truly appreciates the uniqueness of all human beings. Having lived in Brazil and in the U.S. and in her work with multicultural families, she developed an extreme sense of respect, sensitiveness and appreciation for the distinctiveness of all her patients. And as language and communication is important to improve health outcomes, Marcia is trilingual in English, Portuguese and Spanish and has published studies in the topic of communication between health care providers and patients

 

Marcia’s enthusiasm for her profession and her positivistic approach is based on her belief that everyone has an inner potential for healing. Empowering patients is her motto. Marcia has a special interest for women’s health and in special reproductive system.  Marcia’s trainings include Mind and Body Program for Infertility at the world renowned  Boston IVF Clinic with Dr. Alice Domar and Cognitive Therapy at the Beck Institute with Dr. Aaron Beck and Dr. Judith Beck. 

Marcia uses an integrative approach based on the client’s macro and micro system resources. Marcia acknowledges the importance of the context in which her clients are inserted and never forgets to assess the source of patient’s resources.
